An Enchanting Fusion of Cypriot and Cretan Traditions in a Rustic Cretan Wedding

Kristella, with Cypriot roots and a life in England, married Theo, originally from Heraklion and also residing in the UK. Their wedding took place on a stunning, newly opened rustic estate that offered expansive grounds and a charming chapel onsite—perfect for celebrating a day full of vibrant style and personality. The bride dazzled in a show-stopping gown, while Theo incorporated Cretan elements in both his attire and throughout the wedding, bringing an authentic local touch to their special day.

The bride’s family honored Cypriot tradition with a heartfelt gesture known as “alamatta,” where they draped a red scarf over Kristella as a farewell before entrusting her to Theo. This emotional moment brought the families together, beautifully blending their cultures.

With a mix of Greek-speaking guests and others from abroad, we prepared ceremony booklets to ensure everyone could follow the Christian ceremony with ease. The wedding colors were carefully selected to harmonize with the venue, the couple’s preferences, and the natural setting of that time of year.

The couple’s warm and close-knit bond was evident, surrounded by friends and family who celebrated this fusion of Cypriot and Cretan heritage with a British base. The couple paid particular attention to the menu, selecting a catering service that tailored everything to their tastes and requests. Traditional Cretan wedding pilafi took center stage, thrilling Greek guests and delighting the international attendees with a taste of local tradition.

This wedding was a joyful celebration with a rich Greek character and Cypriot touches, a true cultural blend in a memorable setting.
